Terms of Service

Effective October 16, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and MockQ (“we” or “us”) and govern your access to the MockQ website, apps, and services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 16 years old and of legal age to form a binding contract where you live. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.

2. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. If you continue to use the Service after changes take effect, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree, you may stop using the Service and close your account.

3. The Service

MockQ provides AI-powered technical interview practice, including live voice conversation with an AI interviewer, a code editor that executes your code, optional proctoring, and AI-generated hints, feedback, and scores. MockQ is a practice and educational tool. The AI interviewer, code results, feedback, and scores are automated and may be inaccurate or incomplete. They are not an assessment of your qualifications or employability, are not shared with employers, and do not guarantee any interview outcome or job offer. Use your own judgment.

4. User accounts

You must provide accurate information, keep your login credentials confidential, and are responsible for all activity under your account. Accounts are for one person and may not be shared, sold, or transferred. Notify us promptly at support@mockq.io if you suspect unauthorized access.

5. Recording, AI processing, and proctoring

Interviews require recording and transcribing your voice, storing your code and results, and processing that content with third-party AI services, as described in the Privacy Policy. We will ask for your consent before your first interview, and you cannot start an interview without it. Proctoring is optional and off by default; if you turn it on in the consent screen, your camera and screen are shared with our proctoring provider for that session, and activity events and camera and screen captures are collected as described in the Privacy Policy. Proctoring results may affect your overall result and how much an interview counts toward your leaderboard rating. You must not include or record any other person through the Service without their consent.

6. Acceptable use

You must use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to, and not to attempt to:

  • Submit malware or code that attempts to escape or tamper with the code execution sandbox, make network connections, access files, credentials, or data outside your own submission, mine cryptocurrency, or deliberately exhaust system resources.
  • Upload scripts or content designed to execute in another user’s browser or in our systems, such as cross-site scripting or injection payloads.
  • Probe, scan, or attack the Service, or bypass authentication, rate limits, usage limits, or credit checks.
  • Use prompt injection or similar techniques to make the AI interviewer reveal its instructions, produce harmful content, or act outside its intended purpose, or put instructions to the grader in your answers or code to change your score.
  • Manipulate your scores or leaderboard rating, for example by having someone else interview for you, getting outside help during a proctored interview, or using more than one account.
  • Scrape, copy, or resell MockQ’s questions, rubrics, or outputs, or use them to build a competing product or train an AI model.
  • Upload unlawful or infringing content, harass anyone, or impersonate any person or entity.

Leaderboard ratings are for practice. We may adjust or remove a rating, or take an account off the leaderboard, if we believe it was gained unfairly.

If you find a security vulnerability, report it to support@mockq.io without exploiting it, accessing other users’ data, or disrupting the Service. We will not take action against good-faith reports. We may monitor usage for security and report illegal activity to authorities.

7. Intellectual property

The Service and all its content, features, and functionality, including software, questions, rubrics, prompts, designs, and branding, are owned by MockQ or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial interview practice. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

8. User content

You retain ownership of the code, responses, and other material you submit (“Your Content”). You grant MockQ a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, execute, transmit, and display Your Content only as needed to provide, secure, and support the Service and comply with law. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law. We do not use Your Content to train general-purpose AI models, and our AI service providers are not permitted to do so. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit Your Content, and you should not submit secrets, credentials, or confidential material belonging to others. Feedback generated about your own sessions is yours to use for your personal purposes.

9. Credits, subscriptions, and payments

Prices are shown in the Service before purchase, in US dollars, plus applicable taxes. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor, and you authorize us and that processor to charge your selected payment method.

  • Credits. Interviews consume minute credits at the rate shown in the Service. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged. Credits you purchase do not expire while your account is active. Monthly credits that come with a plan belong to that billing cycle: they end with it, and unused ones do not carry over. Unused credits are forfeited when your account is closed. The free monthly minutes are one allowance per person: closing an account and opening another with the same email address within 12 months continues the same allowance rather than starting a new one.
  • Failed sessions. If an interview fails because of a problem on our side, contact support@mockq.io within 14 days and we will return the credit used.
  • Subscriptions. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. We will notify you before any price change takes effect. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Deleting your account ends a subscription immediately, without a refund for the rest of the period.
  • Refunds. Except where required by law or stated in these Terms, payments are non-refundable.
  • Failed payments. If a renewal payment doesn't go through, we'll retry it over the next few days, and your new billing cycle starts on the day the payment succeeds. Until then, your plan's monthly credits are on hold and credits you buy are charged at the Free plan's rate. If the payment still hasn't gone through after the last retry, your subscription ends and your account moves to the Free plan; credits you purchased stay with you.

10. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

11. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect the Service and your data, but no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party service providers and may link to or integrate with third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, practices, or availability of third parties, and your use of their services may be subject to their own terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time, in Profile under Account, or by contacting support@mockq.io. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, to address a security risk, or if we discontinue the Service. Where we terminate for serious breach of Section 6, we may do so without notice or refund. If we discontinue the Service for reasons other than your breach, we will give reasonable notice and refund prepaid, unused subscription time. Upon termination your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (including Sections 7, 8, and 14 to 18) will survive.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that AI output, scores, or code execution results will be accurate or complete, or that using MockQ will improve your interview results.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MockQ and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, opportunities, or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid MockQ in the 12 months before the claim arose or CAD $100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability or consumer rights that cannot be limited or waived under applicable law.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless MockQ and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from third-party claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your unlawful use of the Service, or Your Content infringing another person’s rights.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts located in Toronto, Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where your local consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in the courts where you live.

18. Miscellaneous

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and MockQ regarding the Service and supersede any prior understandings. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
